Kevin Crateau brings over 20 years of dedicated service and leadership experience within the Northwest Knox County Community.  A Hardin Valley resident since 2003 and spouse to a 28 year veteran teacher and administrator, he’s committed to improving our schools, building up our community, volunteering to address the needs in our county and being a dedicated parent, coach, contributor and listener.

A Commitment to Youth & Community

As the father of three Hardin Valley and Karns schools students, Kevin has been a supporter of athletics, fundraising and financial wellness education in our community schools for 20 years.  He has been a longtime volunteer within the classroom, during extracurricular activities, chaperoning field trips and supporting our school’s proud graduates.

He has coached all three of his children through football, softball, soccer, baseball, cheer, and basketball since 2008 and has been proud to represent his community as a coach and servant volunteer.

Why Kevin  is Running for Knox County School Board

Kevin Crateau is running for the district 6 seat of the Knox County School board because he believes he can bring a career of strategic thinking and a lifetime as a dedicated volunteer, community supporter and father to the Knox County Schools and ensure that Knox County students receive the best quality education we can provide. 

His vision for Knox County Schools includes:

Fiscal responsibility with our budget

Continue funding of the programs and staffing that are working within our system, and addressing where funding shifts need to occur to bring the right assets to our schools.

Safety and security

Guaranteeing the utmost attention on the security of our students, from facility resource officers, to transportation, to disaster and weather preparation

Success for Every Student

Following the KCS strategic pillar to strive for success for EVERY student, regardless of grade, income level, geography, culture, race or educational need.mes

Public Engagement

Building relationships with parents, teachers, administrators, county officials and KCS leaders to listen to all input and act in the best interest of my constituents in District 6.

Meet Kevin Crateau


Father. Contributor. Republican. Dedicated to Knox County.

Kevin Crateau is a proud husband and father of two beautiful daughters and one amazing young son. A lifelong community supporter, Kevin has championed new school solutions in Hardin Valley, served as a leader of the HVA Foundation, represented district 6 residents as a board member of the Karns Fire Department, served in many volunteer functions, and has been an advocate for responsible residential growth within the Northwest Knox County sector. Kevin spends his evening hours listening to the good and bad about the school system from his 28-year teacher and administrator veteran wife, and has a keen understanding of what goes on daily within our school walls.

Kevin believes in the responsible spending of the dollars allocated by Knox County for our schools, helping every student achieve success, supporting our teachers and administrators who do an amazing job educating our children, and prioritizing the needs of Knox County children.

A Life Built on Service & Leadership

Throughout his life in Knox County, Kevin has held a number of key leadership roles, including:

  • Co-Leader of the Hardin Valley Supports a Middle School community organization, started in 2013

  • President of the Hardin Valley Academy Foundation since 2018

  • Proud Member of the Karns Fire Department Board of Directors

  • Community Leader for Hardin Fields neighborhood cleanup and family activities
